বাংলাদেশের বর্তমান সময়ের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় ইউটিউবার ‘নাদির অন দ্যা গো’ এর ভিসা বাতিল করে দলো তাজিকিস্তান। একসময় বাংলাদেশীদের অন এরাইভাল ভিসা দিতো তাজিকিস্তান। বর্তমানে নাদিরের মতো বিশ্ব ভ্রমণ করা ইউটিউবারের ভিসাও বাতিল করে দিলো তাজিকিস্তান। অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর থেকে বাংলাদেশীদের জন্য এক্র পর এক ভিসার দুয়ার বন্ধ হয়ে আসছে বিশ্বে।
ভিসা বাতিল নিয়ে নাদির তার ফেসবুক পেইজে একটি পোস্ট দিয়ে লিখেন:
আজকে আমি তাজিকিস্তানের ই-ভিসার জন্য রিজেক্ট হয়েছি — তিন সপ্তাহ অপেক্ষা করার পর। এই ভিসাটা সাধারণত বাংলাদেশের পাসপোর্টধারীদের জন্য সবচেয়ে সহজ ভিসাগুলোর একটি বলে ধরা হয়। এটা প্রায় সব ওয়েবসাইটে লেখা আছে, এমনকি আমি পাঁচ বছর আগে যে ভিডিও বানিয়েছিলাম বাংলাদেশি পাসপোর্ট নিয়ে কোথায় কোথায় যাওয়া যায়, সেখানেও এটা ছিল। কিন্তু বাস্তবে এই “সহজ” ভিসাগুলো পাওয়া অনেক সময় অনেক কঠিন হয়। আমি আমার বর্তমান বৈধ ইউ.এস., ইউ.কে., এবং অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ভিসাগুলো দেখিয়েছি, এমন ফান্ড দেখিয়েছি যা দিয়ে তাজিকিস্তানে রাজকীয় ভ্রমণ করাও সম্ভব — তাও রিজেক্ট। কোনো ব্যাখ্যা দেয়নি। শুধু আবেদন ফি হারালাম।এটাই বাস্তবতা, যখন আপনার পাসপোর্ট বাংলাদেশের মতো কোনো দেশের হয়।
অনেক সময় আমার জন্য ইউ.এস., সুইজারল্যান্ড বা অস্ট্রেলিয়ার মতো উন্নত দেশে ভিসা পাওয়া সহজ, যদি আমি সঠিক ডকুমেন্ট ও ফান্ড প্রমাণ করতে পারি।এই পোস্টটা করার উদ্দেশ্য কমপ্লেইন করা না। আমি জানি আমি কতটা লাকি যে আমি ফুলটাইম ভ্রমণ করতে পারছি — আমার মতো ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড থেকে আসা কাউকে আমি চিনি না যে এতটা ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছে। তবে আমি এটা শেয়ার করছি কারণ অনেকেই জিজ্ঞেস করে: আমি কেন আরও ভিন্নধরনের দেশে বা কমন ট্যুরিস্ট ডেস্টিনেশনের বাইরে বেশি ঘুরি না?আমি চেষ্টা করি, ঘুরতে চাই। কিন্তু সত্যিটা হলো, অনেক দেশের ভিসা পাওয়া আসলে যতটা সহজ মনে হয়, ততটা না।
কিছুদিন আগেই আমি মলদোভায় যাওয়ার জন্য ইভিসার জন্য আবেদন করেছিলাম বেলজিয়াম থেকে, একেবারে হাস্যকর এক কারণে রিজেক্ট করে দিল — এবং ফি পুরোটাই নষ্ট। বাহরাইনের ইভিসার জন্যও আবেদন করেছিলাম, যেটা সব ওয়েবসাইটেই বলেছিল সহজ হবে, তাও রিজেক্ট।আর অনেক সময় দর্শকরা আমাকে বলে যে কেন আমি বিভিন্ন যুদ্ধ-বিধ্বস্ত ও আগ্রাসনের ইতিহাস থাকা দেশে যাই না — যারা আসলেই অনেক রহস্যময় ও ঐতিহাসিকভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আমি যেতে চাই। কিন্তু সমস্যা হলো, ওইসব দেশের ভিসা যদি আমার পাসপোর্টে থেকে যায়, তাহলে পরবর্তীতে ইউরোপ, আমেরিকা বা অন্যান্য উন্নত দেশে ভিসা পাওয়া অনেক বেশি কঠিন হয়ে যেতে পারে। আমি এখন সেই ঝুঁকি নিতে পারি না।এই দিকগুলো ভিডিওতে সব সময় দেখানো হয় না। তাই ভাবলাম এই অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করি, যাতে অন্য ট্রাভেলাররাও পিছনের বাস্তবতাটা জানতে পারে।
Today, I was rejected for a Tajikistan e-visa after waiting three weeks. This is supposed to be one of the easiest visas for Bangladeshi passport holders, and it’s listed on every site, including in a video I made five years ago about travel options for our passport. However, the reality of obtaining these “easy” visas is often quite different. I submitted my currently valid U.S., U.K., and Australian visas, showed more than enough funds — enough for a luxury trip to the nation — and still got rejected. No explanation. Just lost the fee.This is what it’s often like for people holding passports from countries like Bangladesh.
It’s actually easier for me to get visas to places like the U.S., Switzerland, or Australia — assuming I can show the proper documents and funds, of course.I’m not posting this to complain. I know how fortunate I am to be able to travel full-time, and travel more than anyone I personally know from a similar background. But I wanted to share this because I keep getting asked: why don’t I travel to more countries outside of the common tourist destinations?
I do want to and try to visit those places. However, the truth is that visas for these countries can be significantly more challenging than they appear. I was also recently rejected for an evisa to Moldova for the most absurd reason while I was trying to travel there from Belgium, and lost a hefty application fee. I was also recently rejected for a Bahrain evisa that all websites suggested should be easy to get for me.And for some places with a history of conflict that viewers ask me to visit, even if I do manage to gain entry, simply having that stamp in my passport from that place could make it harder for me to obtain visas to developed countries in the future. I can’t afford to take that risk anytime soon. This is the side of travel that doesn’t always make it into the videos. But thought this was something I should share so other travelers can know the behind-the-scenes stuff
